Kindle 2 runs into legal trouble already?

After the unveiling of the Kindle 2 Earlier this week, the industry has been all aflutter over the new upgrades that Amazon has on its reader device. The new Kindle 2 will be equipped with a five-way joystick navigation, fast download and a wireless sync feature for Kindle 2, and mobile devices. The function is touched that the most controversial is the text-to-speech function in the unit.

Opponents have said that this feature is an audio-law that falls under copyright. Some fear that this will steal sales away the audiobook industry. Amazon was quick fire back that the function is dependent on the text to speech and that there is something quite different than an audiobook.

Anyway, Kindle 2 is certainly a success and will probably sell as fast as the first generation version has over the holiday period. Amazon Kindle shipping will begin on 24 February.
