The digital camera market to defy the doom and darkness to the rest of the economy. People are still buying new cameras, and more and more of them decide to buy digital SLRs. Most of the manufacturers in the consumer DSLR market (Pentax, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Sony, Olympus and Samsung), the entry-level models, especially in the first-time users and those who make the leap from digital compact cameras . Pentax model in this category is the new Km (known as the K2000 in some areas), beginner-friendly 10.2-megapixel APS-C camera.Competition in the entry-level DSLR market is fierce, and the mileage will be up against some impressive, popular and competitively priced rivals. These include the Canon EOS 1000D ( 430-Kit), the Nikon D60 ( 380-Kit), the Olympus E-420 ( 300 kit) and the Sony Alpha A200 ( 290 kit). The Pentax km is very well priced compared to other models, especially when you consider that it has in the sensor-shift image stabilization, the other entry-level models only the Sony A200 can claim the same, although the price of the Nikon D60 kit includes a basic VR lens.
KM is a very small camera in comparison to other APS-C models. It measures just 122.5 x 91,5 x 67.5mm. Of the other entry-level models, only the Olympus E-420 is smaller, but of course with a Four Thirds sensor and lens mount. Weighing 525g Km is surprisingly heavy for its size, in fact, the entry-level models above is the worst, but weight that directly build quality; before all other current entry-level DSLR cameras, Km certainly feel the sound made. It is a nice looking camera, with clear lines and attractive design. The body is in a plastic-metal chassis, finished in matt black with chrome trim strips, but a rather gorgeous Limited Edition version is also available.
