Hercules intros Dualpix HD720p webcam

Webcam, DJ equipment and speaker maker Hercules on Thursday introduced its latest webcam for notebooks, the Dualpix HD720p. As the name suggests, the webcam supports 720p resolution high-definition videos. The camera has a built-in microphone and a mount that can rotate on two axes rotate to reach numerous positions. The wide-angle autofocus lens has a 3x zoom, and automatically detects orientation at start up. Further adjustments during chat sessions can be made using the included software.
The Dualpix HD720p’s mount lets users attach the webcam to a notebook’s top or side. The cam ships with Hercules Xtra Controller Pro software that allows users to share photos, videos and live music tracks during the conversation, eliminating the need to send them separately.
The Dualpix HD720p uses a 1-megapixel CMOS sensor that, when interpolated, is equal to 5 megapixel photos. The webcam has a common USB 2.0 Video Class (UVC) interface and it’s only compatible with videoconferencing apps such as Windows Live Messenger, MSN Messenger Skype, AOL Instant Messanger and Yahoo! Messenger. Unfortunately, it is only compatible with Windows systems, including XP, Vista and the upcoming Windows 7.
Will be released in September.
