NAVIGON has launched a second free update for the North American version of the Mobile Navigator for the iPhone to life. That makes about an iPhone into a GPS device with maps for the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It works in both portrait and landscape, and has features such as smart address entry, display and map-lane assist. It also shows warnings for over the speed limit.
The new update features text-to-speech, than to own a unit. It adds the automatic day night settings, e-mail-based location-sharing, and integrated iPod functions for playing music in the app itself. Mobile Navigator is from the App Store, and sets the iPhone firmware 3.0 or better.
After the initial purchase no subscriptions or additional fees are charged. Similar changes have been made to the European and Australian versions of the application.
