Archos 5 finally gets Android 1.6 update
A firmware update for the Archos 5 MID was finally released, almost a month after it was first promised. The 1.6.08 update includes the Android 1.6 OS, but there is no access to Android Market App Store. Otherwise, applications are said for the high-resolution screen of the device and a new Quick Search function to be optimized has been added to help users find, music, contacts and other information.
The first reports are not positive, but, like the Archos is off 5 with the new firmware will not turn on its own Wi-Fi networks and does not update its clock from the Internet. It also lacks e-mail and download the low-power mode to retrieve improper times.
