Until the debut of its voice-recognition-based 800 series, Garmin nüvi 700 series had represented the company’s top-of-the line offerings. In fact, deserve the nuvi 760, our Editors Choice’, one of the highest ratings we have given a portable navigation device. At that time it was difficult to imagine how Garmin could be an already excellent product even better. Alas, time marched on, and other manufacturers have the ante with features that increased over the first of the older generation will find nüvi 700th With the introduction of the nüvi 705-series, however, Garmin succeeds in retaining the Editors Choice “crown which now goes to the brand-new nüvi 755T.
In addition to focusing on the nüvi 755T, we find ourselves in this review, the new nüvi 705 series includes three models: the 765T, the 775T and 785T. The main difference between the four models are the sorts of maps and the inclusion of additional features such as integrated Bluetooth phone interface, or MSN Direct support. The main new feature of all four models have in common is the lifetime prevalence subscription-free traffic updates. With the introduction of these devices Garmin has switched from Clear Channel TTN (Total Traffic Network) to Navteq traffic.
Since I regularly use a nüvi 760, it was easy to let the two run side by side on my windshield properties compared. Physically, you will not notice any difference between the 755T and 760. Both measure 3 by 4.8 by 0.8 inches (HWD) and feature the same 4.3-inch 480-by-272-pixel screen. And menu navigation is virtually identical on both units.
The transport interface has been improved by the 760. On the 755T, there is a symbol that you are looking directly to the Traffic menu that lets you map showing traffic on the card, according to traffic incidents near your current location, or if you scan an active route, for the traffic along the route.
Another important improvement is the lane-assist view (see slideshow for an example), which shows you which lane you should, as you approach an exit. It also shows the current signs you see as you approach major highway intersections. This is very similar to the first reality view of Navigon over a year ago introduced its 7100.

Garmin has made a number of subtle little changes to the UI. Although not revolutionary, they show that even a well-rated UI can be improved. In the Driving the zoom in out icons are now on the same side of the screen. Moreover, in the field in the bottom right corner of the screen you can choose to display the direction of travel, time of day or altitude. On the 760, you were down with only direction of travel. Here you will find further significant changes in the map view with an active route. The right field can be configured, the estimated time of arrival, distance to destination, estimated time to show the destination, direction, height or time of day. Since a screen icon has been added to show direction and distance to turn left field is free to show your current speed, a welcome improvement. I do not give up my current speed display with an active route to the 760.
Speed Limit Data is also postponed, it is now located next to the box shows your current speed. Garmin has also data on the speed limit database. On my test drives with the two units, the 755T displayed speed limits on a number of ways that the 760 does not.
Garmin is not the first GPS manufacturer to 3D landmarks, add the cards, but it has done the best job, even if sites are only for a limited number of sites available. Moreover, given where on the 755T, they are transparent and display not fixed, so that they do not darken the surrounding streets on the map.

Also new is Garmin Connect Photos, powered by Panoramio, you download geotagged images on the nüvi 755T. From the Panoramio menu under “Favorites” you can tap on a photo-image, and the nuvi to calculate the route and take you there. Garmin Connect Photos is a nice way to Destinations with the online community, but you need to find a way to make your own photos tag contribution.
One grumble: The nüvi 755T features advertising. My evaluation unit arrived with three preloaded vendors (BP, Walgreens, and Wells Fargo). When you click the Traffic menu, one of the names of these vendors is always at the bottom of the screen. Will also from time to time, one of these ads pop up on the screen to see the card (they will not appear if you are moving). One big addition to the name of the advertiser make you tap on a POI search for nearby retail locations. Unfortunately you can not disable these ads, but it is likely that they help Garmin offset the cost of the live traffic information, which he offers free of charge.

One of the most difficult challenges for manufacturers successfully add new features and the value of an already top-notch product, without compromising quality on the road. The free movement of warnings that come with the new 705-series devices definitely add value. And the other new features offered by the 755T, including the Lane Assist view, 3D Landmarks, and Garmin Connect Photos, providing an excellent navigation aid experience even better.
