Magellan Maestro 4700 GPS Review

Magellan Maestro latest, which is building 4700, on the former Maestro 4370, by a lifetime traffic subscription, voice recognition and a larger 4.7-inch screen that is responsive and accurate to the note, all at the same price. But there are victims of some other features on the path.

Place the Maestro 4370 and Maestro 4700 side by side, and you would think they came from two different companies. The 4.3-inch Maestro 4370 screening is attractive, glossy, but a little bulky. Installation is also quite large and complex. Compared with the Maestro 4700 is slimmer, has surrounded a less smooth-looking plastic, and sports a matte screen. The device measures 3.5 x 5.2 by 0.6 inches (HWD), it is slightly wider than the 4370 due to the larger LCD. The mount is also smaller, but has the same problem as before Magellan devices that you own the cable through it, you have to disconnect and connect the cable each time the device from the dashboard. In addition to the mount and cradle, Magellan throws in a 12-volt power adapter, USB cable, a protective case, an adhesive mounting disk, and a Quick Start.

The differences on if you power on the 4700th Maestro The touch interface is similar, but stronger than the Maestro 4370′s. This is at the expense of a much lower screen resolution of 480 x 272 pixels (compared to 800-by-480 pixels for the 4370). Plus, the Maestro 4700 POI database, a little crazy in terms of the layout. The discounters and department stores categories overlap entries, and there are three different categories for clothing stores, for example. Meanwhile, home improvement stores are banished to a different tree, under “Home Repair,” separated from “shopping”. Still, it was able to find any of my test messages without question.

Extras abound here: Magellan combines a free lifetime traffic subscription with the 4700, together with a useful guide AAA TourBook. There is a Bluetooth speakerphone, the phone-in address pounds hooks, plus a noise-canceling microphone for use as a speakerphone. A very handy feature: In pedestrian mode, you can “Find Your Car” and it will be back to where you park at the mall or at the airport (assuming you take the device with you to obtain).

Overall, Magellan took two steps forward and two steps back with the 4700 Maestro It’s a solid product, but not the head of his class to achieve. Be sure that the Garmin nuvi 265WT, it is essentially a 265T with a 4.3-inch LCD. The Garmin also offers free lifetime traffic, along with a faster GPS lock. It also shows the maximum speed on the current road and make it easier, call sites, even though the Magellan Maestro 4700 meters with a slightly larger LCD and the AAA TourBook. Meanwhile, the TomTom 140-S of our Editors’ Choice is due to its flexible routing, great POI database and high performance, but the screen is only 3.5 inches. There is also the 4.3-inch TomTom XL 340-S, which is otherwise identical. If it effective control of the voice, after you, the Garmin nuvi 885 is a first choice, but it is in another price category altogether.
