Samsung i8910 HD has just about the sale in the UK and it can be so far from Orange. The i8910 HD was once known as the Omnia HD until someone decided numerical designation was so much easier for everyone to remember.
The small grumble aside, this is definitely a handset recalled. It is the first mobile phones to high-definition video recording. You can nab 720p material at 24 fps, which is especially gorgeous when you play it back on the high resolution, 3.7 “AMOLED screen.
The camera is not to be sniffed at one: it is an 8-megapixel affair, with LED flash, not to mention a selection of features that you would normally expect to find on a proper digital camera. There is Face Detection, Smile Shot, Blink Shot and Panorama Shot mode.
The Samsung i8910 HD media is also a power plant, with support for DivX, XviD, H.263, H.264, WMV and MPEG4 video, MP3, AAC AAC +, eAAC + and WMA audio-video, and he comes with 8 GB of memory onboard. The phone is powered by the latest Symbian S60 operating system.
Additional features include integrated GPS, an accelerometer sensor for the mirror of the screen, if you do, a compass, a light sensor and, most intriguingly, a proximity. No idea what that means, but we hope it is a way to meet people from secretly at you when you are working late at the office.
