Sony MEX-BT3800U Review

Sony MEX-BT3800U great head unit offers loads of connectivity options, including mini-jack on the front panel, USB input on the front (on a flash drive / storage / IPOD), to automatically log on the back panel, Bluetooth Audio Streaming and Bluetooth phone connection, along with the usual radio and CD. CD player will also play CDs with MP3/AAC/WMA files. Mic is located on the back, if you have an external microphone to the phone, and if not, there is a built-in microphone on the front panel.

One of the main features that attracted me SONY MEX-BT3800U was its Bluetooth Audio Streaming function. It allows you to play music with other Bluetooth audio devices (phone/MP3 player) with A2DP. (Check your music player, Bluetooth supports A2DP to make purchases 1).I use a Bluetooth phone streaming HTC desire Android. All you need to do to get it work is to couple the head unit and a music player, once that easy, when your phone / music player is in the range head unit will connect to it. You can choose a simple BT audio source from the head unit, and it will play through the system. Bluetooth Audio is not as good quality CD or MP3.You’ll see some hissing and setbacks, but overall it is good for general listening. Well, another very annoying problem when you start the engine and the head momentarily extinguished, Bluetooth connection is lost, and it should connect and listen to start playing again. But the problem is not unique to this head, of course.

Once the head unit paired with the phone, you can use it as a proper hands-free phone system. You have the opportunity to lead an external microphone to back if you feel like to connect an external microphone, or you can use the built-in microphone, which works fine. When an incoming call, your music will be interrupted and the phone rings through the car speakers. You can answer the call by clicking on the volumn knob on the head unit itself. I found the sound quality is good, and callers can all hear me clearly enough, but to describe its sound as “distant.” One feature missing Sony head unit that you will find some other, Bluetooth phone book access, download your phone book brain itself.

I found that Bluetooth Audio Streaming may sound choppy or glitchy. You can get a strange effect where the head unit to temporarily speed up the audio a bit later for a second Bluetooth signal loss so the sound will be “catch up”, where it was. You end up with a very strange “detonation” effect. It seems that your phone search for Wi-Fi signal is faced with Bluetooth reception head unit. Switch Wi-Fi from the settings in the phone, it seems easier, but it is very annoying to do so.

Forward / back and pause, works fine with the head unit gives you full control over the audio from your phone. Too bad, though, if you use other programs at the same time on the phone, for example, Sat-Nav, these managers are unable to work, although the sound continues to play well. Voice commands from the satellite navigation and other audio coming from the phone gets mixed with the music stream, which is a nice feature. Fast forward and backward while holding forward or back button on the head unit, but it seems a bit unreliable and sometimes continuing at a rapid forwarding some time after you release the button.

MEX-BT3800U has a USB socket on the front panel, which allows you to connect almost any music player or music storage device. When you first connect your device USB, head unit will scan for music and then using the search button you can view your albums quickly and easily. I was really impressed with it, and you can even use the USB connector for easy charging of your phone up.

I was really impressed with the new head unit Sony. I think this is a great buy, especially the prices could be on the Internet.

Sony MEX-BT5700U Review

Each year, car, more and more new cars include integrated connectivity for iPod, iPhone and Bluetooth devices. But if you are not yet on the market for a new car, you can still like connectivity over an aftermarket upgrade. Sony MEX-BT5700U, a member of the company is Xplod line of car head units sound option you can connect both iPods and iPhones.

The MEX-BT5700U is designed to be a DIN-A-standard unit of measurement for car radios, about two inches high filled with seven inches wide. The vast majority of cars on the road have either one or a two-DIN-DIN opening in the dash for the audio system. My car, a 2004 Kia Sedona minivan, has a two-DIN place, the custom stereo installer used a spacer to fill bag and cover the additional space. The device Sony supplied for this report fit well with the installation takes about an hour.

A CD player CD-R RW-compatible resting behind the head unit aperture, which can be removed for safety (a hard carrying case is included). The system is AM FM radio tuner has 18 FM and 12 AM presets, accessible via face-mounted controls or the supplied remote control. HD Radio, a digital, terrestrial radio formats with a clear sound that you “tag” can songs for later purchase an iPod is a $ 150 option. You can also hook up a satellite radio tuner with a separate $ 100 Sony UniLink bus adapter.

A front-facing USB port on the head unit, you can connect only via a USB-compatible MP3 player, including a USB Dock Connector cable-any iPhone, iPod nano, iPod classic or iPod touch Play and charge. Setting the input source to USB head unit can read the contents of the attached device and displays them on the head unit screen. (If you have an iPod shuffle or iPod can be a very old, you’re not completely out of luck, but there are also use-a 3.5-mm auxiliary input jack to the input of any audio device with a headphone jack.)

A minor complaint is that the USB port is in the firing line. This means that if your iPod is connected, there is a large cable dangling from the dashboard. Compare this with the Pioneer unit I have in my other car, a USB port installed on the back: I have snaked the dock-connector cable from the back of the Pioneer unit in the dashboard glove compartment, making the cabling and unobtrusive control my iPod from potential thieves to park when I hid.

Navigate your iPod music content by using the controls on the head unit or an included wireless remote control. I have an iPod classic 160GB was at best clumsy, that hosts over 12,000 songs at last check, so that navigation through the head unit. You can add a “Jump” feature to automatically skip ahead a certain number of songs on a playlist, but that does not make navigation through large lists easily. This device has a kind of quick scrolling function, similar to the way that the iPod you scan alphabetically by artist and album lists, if you spin the click wheel quickly.

Fortunately, the MEX-BT5700U a “Passenger control” setting you use the iPod’s own controls and screen. This passage mode is used by most iPods except the original iPod supports (with Video) and the first generation iPod nano.
